The Westminister Pulpit 5 Vol.
Published in Hardcover by Baker Book House (August, 1995)
Author: G. Campbell Morgan
Average review score:

Great sermons from one of the best expositors of the Bible.
G. Campbell Morgan is one of the best expositors of God's Holy Word who has ever lived. The sermons in these volumes are refreshing to read and I have been able to grow in the Lord through them, though preached many years ago. Morgan's ministry still lives through his sermons.

Wonderful children's book
This is a wonderful children's book, especially for those children who know Joe! Yes, there really is a Joe who owns Joe's Snack Bar in Jericho, Vermont, and every fall he closes for the winter and then reopens in the spring. This book captures what every child must feel when Joe leaves. Even if you don't know Joe, this is a must have children's book. The pictures and rhymes say it all and more.

Where the Two Came to Their Father
Published in Paperback by Princeton Univ Pr (17 December, 1992)
Authors: Maud Oakes, Joseph Campbell, and Jeff King
Average review score:

A work of meaningful art!
I heard this tale when I went to Indian Hills Elementary School in Gallup, NM in the early 70's. They showed it on one of the old filmstrips and I never forgot it. This story has carried me through life, and only after a long, long search did I finally find it a few years ago in this book. What a surprise to find Joseph Campbell involved with it, too! The sandpaintings of Jeff King, interpreted by Maud Oakes, are phenomenal! This story is truly magical, steeped deeply in the enchanting god-country of the Navajo. It was quite appropriately chosen as the first book of the Bollingen Series.

Who's Who in the Middle Ages

A superbly researched and presented biographical dictionary
In Who's Who In The Middle Ages, Mary Ellen Snodgrass provides the student and non-specialist general reader with a superbly researched and presented biographical dictionary of the men and women who distinguished the European Middle Ages as a bridge between the classical world and the Renaissance. This was an era of both beauty and barbarism, of advances and dead-ends. The entries are alphabetical and the historical range is from the fifth century to the fifteenth. Each entry provides the names (and alternate names) for the person, as well as personal and historical details. References are included with each entry, and a detailed bibliography is provided. Who's Who In The Middle Ages is enhanced as an outstanding academic and community library reference with appendices covering the colleges and universities that educated many of these people; the period's noteworth events; major manasteries, abbeys and convents (including their founders and dates); invidiuals listed by occupation or contribution; as well as popes, emperors, and monarachs. Fully indexed, Who's Who In The Middle Ages is an indispensable, core reference title and an invaluable contribution to Mediveal Studies supplement reading lists and reference resources.

Published in Paperback by Univ of Maine Pr (February, 1978)
Author: Christopher S. Campbell
Average review score:

My view of this book
I am a student enrolled in the Forestry Program at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. I borrowed this book from a friend to use on a project and found it to be one of the most valuable resources I used this year. It is easy to follow, and the illustrations are very precise. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Maine plants, espececially if he or she is researching in the winter, when the leaves have fallen off most of the plants.

The Women of the Pleasure Quarter: Japanese Paintings and Prints of the Floating World
Published in Paperback by Hudson Hills Pr (February, 1996)
Authors: Elizabeth De Sabato Swinton, Kazue Edamatsu Campbell, Worcester Art Museum, N.Y.) Equitable Gallery (New York, and Kimbell Art Museum
Average review score:

Beautiful prints, fascinating essays
It is difficult to find an art book that perfectly balances information and art; but Swinton has compiled a book which achieves this balance beautifully. Not only does the reader enjoy large, beautiful color prints of the floating world, but she also is presented with several entertaining and thoughtful essays that begin to demystify the world of the Japanese pleasure quarters. The essays deal with such subjects as the history of Kabuki theater, the life of geisha, and the function of the pleasure quarters in Japanese society. However, the art is not dealt with as mere illustration; the works are analyzed in terms of technique and art history, and the prints are catalogued with extreme care for the art scholar. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in art, Japanese culture, history, or women's studies.
